Today I finished Lecture 0 of the 10-week course of CS50. It was 70 minutes long and I have written down everything of importance in a Google Doc in my STEM folder. I have watched around 20 minutes of Lecture 1 where we are learning more about abstraction and having an introduction to C, a text-based programming language.
Something that went wrong today was that I haven't done much practical work apart from writing down notes of the lectures. Next week (which is my last week at Campion) I hope to get to some practical work of the course (perhaps writing my first C program).

First reflection (completed start of 22/2)
My Impact Project is taking the online course called CS50X. It is a sort of introduction to binary and coding and is an adaptation of Harvard's own CS50 course for its university students.
Today is my first reflection but it is the third week of Impact Projects. I have made enough progress for these reflections to be helpful towards my impact project. Below are some screenshots of my progress so far:

Over the last three weeks, I have made some progress by writing important notes about Lecture 0, which introduces many concepts of coding, such as binary, bits, bytes, hexadecimal numeral system. The best learning I have received was that every digit in binary represents a number that is affected by increasing powers to the number 2, such as 2^0 = 1, 2^1 = 2, 2^2 = 4, and so on. Any number can be created with binary, and it is much more condensed (8 digits of binary can make the number 511).

Rosetta Stone Continuation 2019
For the next year, I will not be continuing with my Rosetta Stone course. The reason for my resignation of this program is because of multiple factors.
The main factor is that I find the Rosetta Stone program incompetent and not tailored to my learning needs. In particular, the program lacks in-depth assistance on how to learn; there are many features that could have been added with ease to the program that could have only benefitted them. My major concerns are how they do not teach you the grammar of sentences, when to use punctuation properly and what the definitions of words mean. This predicament manifests particularly when you are asked to name the names of certain objects/locations. I find myself having to Google the definition of words because many Mandarin words have more than 10 definitions.
The secondary factor is that the Rosetta Stone microphone does not work with anything other than a USB headset, which is uncomfortable and not of high quality. I would be more motivated to complete work if I didn't have to dodge every single microphone task due to this problem. My laptop and standalone microphone don't work on Rosetta Stone but work on every other software.
I have learnt quite a lot from this Rosetta Stone course but unfortunately, its time will end next year.

Rosetta Stone Learning 18/10/18
I like learning Mandarin because it is important to my culture and I haven't dedicated much time to learning it in the past years.
I wish I could be using a better and more specialised platform to learn my language on, instead of just using Rosetta Stone.
If I could change one thing it would be how Rosetta Stone explains Mandarin grammar and definitions for words.
I am able to speak basic sentences and hold a conversation in Mandarin. I can also pronounce the words with a good success rate.
I find it really hard when there is a word I don't know, as Rosetta Stone fails to teach you what they mean.
I don't like when I am forced to use an online dictionary to find the definitions of words in the Rosetta Stone program that I don't know, just to progress through the tasks.
Here are some basic essential words and phrases in Mandarin.

28/9 - ImProjB - Presentation Day
Today was presentation day and it lasted from the start of the day until lunch. I arrived to school at 10:40 so I missed some of it, but not anything important. At 11:45 we set up our project once again in the library. We introduced a feedback form for people to fill out, and we had four different people give us feedback. Yesterday, on Thursday, our project was featured on exhibition day and it lasted from 5:30 to 7:00. I think this semester of impact projects was pretty good and I learnt a lot from it. I did a lot of work on our project at home to make up for some lack of productivity at school. I am hopeful we can get Gold, if we can't then Silver is fine for how rushed our product was.
